We believe every place has a story.
Wakku is a cultural experience collective rooted in Malabar. We help people meet a place through the people who live it.

Wakku designs walks, journeys and gatherings that let you meet Malabar through its people, food, craft, heritage and everyday life.
We work with home cooks, boat builders, farmers, singers and storytellers, and we publish the stories we find along the way. Some of what we do is for visitors. Much of it is for people who already live here and want to see their own place differently.
Why Malabar?
For centuries this coast has been a meeting place: of traders and travellers, faiths and languages, kitchens and crafts.
That history is still alive in its streets and homes. But most people pass through Malabar on the way somewhere else, or see it only through its landmarks. We live here, and we think it deserves to be understood slowly.
Why Wakku exists
Travel often takes people somewhere without helping them understand where they are.
It can also leave little behind for the people who make a place what it is. Wakku exists to do the opposite: to slow the visit down, to put people before buildings, and to make sure the people who share their lives with guests are paid and credited.

Every cultural and historical claim we publish is researched and reviewed first.
